In 2025, the World Athletics Championships return to Tokyo after 34 years, and Seiko commemorates this historic moment with a limited edition of its iconic Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph. The new SSC955, limited to just 6,000 pieces worldwide, features a striking design in “Edo purple,” the official color of the event and a tribute to the ancient city that became modern-day Tokyo. Since 1987, Seiko has been the official timekeeper of World Athletics, and this watch celebrates the shared legacy between the brand and the world of elite sports. Powered by the V192 solar movement, it offers up to 6 months of power reserve, a 60-minute chronograph in 1/5-second increments, power reserve indicator, and tachymeter. Its 39 mm stainless steel case is fitted with a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 10-bar water resistance, magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m, and luminescent details on the hands and indexes. Each piece is individually numbered and engraved on the case back.
